One of the questions that we often get from prospective customers is the following: what do your customers usually modify about their bars? That question is basically a request for customization ideas.
Most customers know what style of bar works in their space among their existing décor and what matches their taste. Bars, like any furniture, could be divided between modern and traditional. Modern is where you get one made from formica, aluminum or even bricks. Usually, these are smaller bars with sharp edges and strong colors. Traditional bars make a different statement. A traditional bar could be an elegant art deco, English Pub bar or any of the Brunswick models. After you pick you bar, then you start wondering what could be modified. Here is a list of elements that our customers change about their bars:
1. Design.
Is your bar going to be a straight front unit, or perhaps L-shaped, C-shaped or U-shaped?
2. Dimensions
Measure the space and ensure you leave room for traffic behind the bar and around it for the guests. You might cancel the back bar if there is not space. Or opt for a very narrow one.
3. Overhang
Some bars are “standing bars” where is no overhang at all. That does not mean that the guests will always be standing but the bar functions as a focal point in the space and the bar serves as the place where the guests place their drinks, whether seated or standing. Other hosts prefer an overhang, the extension on the countertop under which the guests would slide their knees to sit in comfort.
4. Marble/granite versus wooden top
Some customers prefer on their classical bars a wooden top. But others understand that granite or marble is better long-term material for the countertop.
5. Foot rail and arm rails
6. Sink
7. Lights
8. Wine glass racks and wine bottle racks
9. Space for appliances
Fridge/ice maker/wine fridge/dishwasher, etc.
10. Space for a TV
11. Drawers for garbage
12. Ice bin
13. Cutting board
